Error: "There is no folder for this object" when creating an object in Workstation

Issue

I get an Error message saying, "There is no folder for this object" when I try to create an object.

Environment

Vista Workstation

Cause

This error occurs if there is a dash or hyphen (–) in the name of the object being created. Vista uses the dash to define folder paths in the database, e.g. a graphic named RTU-1. Vista sees this as a graphic "1" in the folder "RTU."

Resolution

Do not use dashes or hyphens in the naming convention for Vista objects. Either eliminate it altogether, or use underscores (_) instead.
