Cause
Controller battery has failed.
Resolution
The battery lifetime will vary over a very wide range depending on use and temperature so cannot easily be predicted, but about 5 years under normal conditions, would be a guide.
The battery in a DC1100 and a DC1400 is soldered to the underside of the CPU PCB. It is a 3.6V 150mAh NiMH battery. The factory part number is S2218121100 and the manufacturer’s part number is Varta 55615 603 940.
Please Note: - Good soldering skills will be needed to replace the battery.
