Connection to a DMS MicroPlex MSC-NC is successful. However, when accessing a networked MicroSmart controller, the connection attempt fails.

Issue

Connection to a DMS MicroPlex MSC-NC is successful. However, when accessing a networked MicroSmart controller, the connection attempt fails.

Environment

• DMS MicroPlex MSC-NC
• MicroSmart Controller

Cause

Flash ROM in the MSC-NC

Resolution

Reload of the flash in the MSC-NC:

1. Power down
2. Jump J1 (near processor)
3. Power up.
4. Connect with DCT
5. Remove J1 jumper f. Do “Alt-L” as this will start installation of Flash ROM.

The above will also take care of these problem issues:

1. Back door password (lack of)
2. "Ghost" controllers that are not there
3. None standard service alarm code (sample: 44+service alarm44144144/144)
