Hi experts!
I am looking for a cost effective solution to an engineering requirement.
That is to provide a constant (vertical) tension in a cable, preset to be from 100N to 2000N, with a speed of up to 500mm/s, for a stroke of approximately 500mm. I was thinking linear cylinder with a strain gauge for feedback and control. High precision is not necessary.
To explain further - a cable is pulled and movement resisted until the pre-set tension is reached, then movement commences and speed adjusts in real time to keep the same tension (+- say 2%). Tension is maintained in both directions (i.e. if cable slackens, movement reverses to maintain tension).
Anyone who can supply a solution or comment, much appreciated!

Hi,
thanks for the comment, but I am looking for an electric cylinder, which I thought Schneider provided, but have since found what I need at another supplier.
