Lonwork device discovery

Dear Team,

I am using Automation Server (1.5), I am trying to discover LON device (Kamstrup BTU meter), but not able to discover.

Below steps followed,

  1. Opened Workstation and locate Automation server.
  2. Left-click on the Automation server to select it.
  3. Select the "Discovery Devices" tab.
  4. In the "Select device Type" drop-down list, click to expand the options and choose "Lonworks".
  5. Right-click on the "Devices" folder.
  6. From the context menu, select "Scan network for devices".

This 6th point (Scan network for devices is not showing). Only Activate listen to service pin, Deactivate listen to service pin & Clear found devices showing.

Please help me to discover lonwork device.

Regards,

Sachin

@nagaralesb as @MikaelKrantz noted SBO version 1.5 is 10 years old and really should be upgraded to a supported version.

The behaviour that you are seeing is completely normal in this version, service pin is the way that LON devices were discovered. See section 57.5 of the SBO 1.5 Technical Reference Guide

To discover a LonWorks device
1. In WorkStation, in the System Tree pane, select the server that is connected to the device you want to discover.
2. Click the Device Discovery view.
3. In the Select device type box, select LonWorks.
4. Select the Devices folder.
5. On the Actions menu, click Activate listen to service pin.
6. Press the service pin on the physical device.
7. In the Device Discovery view, ensure that the LonWorks device is displayed in the Devices folder. This may take up to 5 seconds.
8. On the Actions menu, click Deactivate listen to service pin.

9. Drag the discovered service pin (device) to the System Tree pane:
• Drag to an existing device to associate it with the discovered physical
device.
• Drag to the LonWorks network to create the device.

Why using such old version?

Should recommend to upgrade to 1.9, at least.
