BIL of the switchgear - does the type of the load have an impact on it?
Hello folks!
Our local utility grid supplies us with 27.6 kV 60Hz power with wye-grounded connection. We designed the switchgear with the BIL of 125 kV as per standard for 27.6kV grid, apparently.
But our utility is insisting that since our SWGR is feeding the delta/wye transformer (27.6/0.6kV; D-Y) as a load, our SWGR should comply with 150 kV requirement, since delta equipment should comply with 150 kV.
Please help to understand what could stand behind this requirement?
