ITS(Intelligent Transport System) integrates the information technology,the computer technology,the data communication technology,the sensor technology,the electronic control technology,the automatic control theory,artificial intelligence, forming a comprehensive transportation system to ensure safety,improve efficiency and save energy.
In the 1960s & 1970s, theoretical research on intelligent transport was carried out in developed countries in Europe and the United States;
In the 1980s & 1990s, European research areas involved advanced traveler information systems, vehicle control systems, electronic toll collection systems, etc;
In 2003, eSafety was proposed in Europe, and in 2009, IBM proposed a new concept of intelligent transportation;
In 2012, the United States conducted the "Safety Pilot" connected vehicle safety pilot project in Michigan;
In 2015, the US Department of Transportation launched a pilot deployment of connected vehicles in Wyoming, New York and Florida, known as "CV Pilot".
With the development of information and communication technology, ITS has formed industrialization and large-scale application, and as of now, Japan is the country where ITS is most widely used.
ITS is also developing very rapidly in China and has been very successful in recent years.
