How to update from Citect Scada7.2 sp3 to Citect Scada 2023r2

Hi all

I have done several updates from 7.0 and 7.2 to version 2020 snd 2023 the last few years without problems, but this time i get errors from the CSV_include project.

if i only import the main project and try to migrate, it fail because the missing CSV_Inlude project

and if i import the CSV_Include i get a lot of compile errors, most of them are obsolete Alarm functions.

fx. AlarmSetQuery

How do i do a propper migration from 7.2 sp3 ?

Regards

Peter

Hi @PBT

Great to hear you had a positive experience with previous 7.0 to 7.2 upgrades.

Please observe the following note in the readme for Plant SCADA 2023 R2:

With the release of Plant SCADA 2023 R2, the CSV_Include project is no longer supported as a system project. If you have any projects based on the CSV_Include templates, you will need to create a separate backup of the CSV_Include project and restore manually it in version 2023 R2 (or later). You can then include it as a user project.

Also please take a look at the online help for the upgrade guide found here:

https://docs.aveva.com/bundle/plant-scada/page/1037398.html

Kind regards

Olivier

The best option you have is to locate a Plant SCADA 2023 install, backup the CSV_Include project from this version (the last version with CSV_Include) and restore it into your 2023 R2 system.

Hi Olivier

Thanks for the reply

Well that's what i did, i did a manuel backup of the CSV_Include from my old install 7.2-SP3

but a got a lot of compile errors. most from xxx.ci files ( fx.  CSV_Alarms.ci) from the include project.

But a have a 2023 project running (the last project i updated) so i just copied the xx.ci files from this project.

i hope it doesn't give me other problems πŸ™‚

Compile errors are gone now.

if it doesn't work i think i will update to version 2023 (without R2) and see how it goes..

it always a pain to do these upgrades 😞

thank for help link

Regards

Peter

Hi @PBT

I don't think you read my reply instructions carefully. I suggested you backup the entire CSV_Include project from the 8.40 system. Then restore this to 8.50.

I would not recommend using your original 7.20 CSV_Include backup as that is quite out dated.

I also wouldn't recommend upgrading to 8.40, as this will end main stream support soon, so always best to upgrade to latest available to maximize support lifecycle (8.50 or 2023 R2).

Kind regards

Olivier

The only reason to use the original 7.20 CSV_Include project would be if you modified it or customized it in any way.
