CONVERT PLANT SCADA TRENDING DATA (HST) INTO TEXT FORMAT.

hst.pngHello!
I need to transform my old trend data from Plant Scada/Vijeo citetc into some txt or dbf file. We can export via csv using the platform's graph, but it is not accurate to seconds for a large time interval.
I need to transform the HST.. 0001...0002.. files into text.
Edge had a tool that would enable this conversion (HST2TXT) but it does not work in Plant Scada due to an error.
Could anyone help me with this issue?

Hello @vmsantos,

There is a bulk export tool that allows you to export Trend History data (reads the HST header file and understands how many data files 001, 002... etc there are).

This tool is free and provided without warranty, which is available on the Citect Toolbox (now hosted on GCS forum):

https://softwareforums.aveva.com/citect_community/f/toolbox/24070/batch-trnexportcsv

Let me know if you have any questions.

Kind regards

Olivier

Hi Olivier,

I have read through your guidance above but have not been able to convert yet. Do you have any manual describing the steps? My case is that I got the .HST files from customers, I'm not the direct user. So, would it be possible for me to convert it by downloading Batch TrnExportCSV or do I have to be Aveva's end user? And what should be the potential reason that my customer cannot get .CSV files instead of .HST? Are they using too old version of Scada system?

Thank you for your response.

Jen

Hi @JenPham_0901,

The Trend System of Plant SCADA (Citect SCADA previously) has a proprietary format file for storing its trend history. The *.HST is considered the header file which contains information about how many files, the format, the roll over time, and any other meta data. The *.001, *.002, and so on, contain the actual value and timestamp data for the trend.

The Batch TrnExportCSV is simply a tool that is capable of reading the trend history files and exporting it. There isn't any user manual for this, it is quite straight forward and intuitive to use.

To obtain this tool, you need to setup an account with AVEVA Global Customer Support.

Let me know if you require any further assistance.

Kind regards

Olivier

Hi Olivier,

Thank you for your prompt response.

I have an account with AVEVA Global Customer Support already. Should I request further support from them?

And sorry, just a quick clarification, when you said Batch TrnExportCSV can export the files, those files will be in .CSV format, right? (Sorry, it might be a basic question but I am new to this area and got a task to complete).

Thank you very much.

Jen

Dear Olivier,

Just to inform that I have successfully extracted the data in CSV. format using the Batch TrnExportCSV. Thank you very much for your guidance.

However, as the time interval was every 5 seconds, it became too big for Excel to handle. Could Batch TrnExportCSV do the filter and get the frequency of every 5 minutes instead?

Thank you again & appreciate your further support.

Jen

I'd recommend using 64-bit version of Excel or open source application that can handle large CSV files.
