Hi everyone, I m working on a project that includes General electric plc and aveva plant scada . The versions are as follow:
Aveva Plant Scada 2023 R2 v8.50
General Electric PACSystems RX3i / CPU type IC695CPU310 / using Ethernet module IC695ETM001
Protocol is TCP using GETCP driver
I downloaded the GETCP driver since it was not included in the plant scada installation.
When I open the "Driver reference help" I can see the address format for reading various variable on the PLC(see attachedd image)
Since there is no mention of Symbolic addressing I doubt plant scada can read symbolic addresses from the GE plc. I have no means of testing this. In the meantime I just use the tagname /variable name in the address colomn in plant scada . not sure if it will work.
Has anyone tried using symbolic address between Aveva plant scada and GE Fanuc PLC using the GETCP driver?
Thank you for your assistance

Use an OPC Server if you want to use symbolic addresses.

Thank You @sinced I ended up with more than a 1000 errors when writing tag names under the address colomn .
Clearly the Driver does not support symbolic Addressing. OPC is the way to go
