weird Back-Ups 700 behaviour

Hello All,

we have a number of APC Back-UPS 500 and 700 in a building, installed to backup electric shutters for safety purpose.

We have had cases where the battery is depleted, and the shutter won't operate, even with power on.

Is this a bug or a feature?

I was sure that older models of APC would power our office PCs with dead batteries, if the mains were on.

Am I correct?

In my experience, if the battery is dead the UPS won't turn on.

so there is no by-pass?

I thought that you could even replace batteries without disrupting the service...
