ups not charging under load? (update)

i got an used back ups es 750, i buy it a brand new battery (code bar says that it is from 2017), did the automatic testing and it says everything is ok. i charged battery to 100% which i can see on powerchute pe 3.0.2, test it disconnecting cable from wall energy to see if it runs ok whit battery and all went ok (i test it only like 1 min with battery use). all seems ok but i read that ups should charge the battery when it is under load which it doesnt do, the way i can charge the battery is turning ups off and then it starts to charge the battery, i changed the sensibility to low and it seems to discharge the battery less faster than in medium when using it under load, but still it doesnt charge when ups is on and under load. havent try charging the ups with no load on it and with ups on to see if it charges to. should i be worried about this? is this normal?. thank you for your time

UPDATE: i took the ups to a technician and had 2 inflated capacitors, he replace them and now the ups is working normally 🙂

Hi,

The unit should charge when there is a load. If you can I recommend returning the unit to where you purchased it from. If you cannot return the unit I recommend when powering down the load and UPS when not in use to allow the battery to charge.

unfortunatly i cant return it anymore, yesterday my battery went down to 77% and i see today thats is now on 81%, i leave the ups on all night. seems to charge but a ver very slow rate. gonna test a few days more to se what happens. i read that it could help fully discharging the battery and then charge it again, i dont know if thats helpful because they also recommened to not do that since it shortens the battery life. thank you for you response

Hi,

It is not optimal since the unit is draining while in use so it will not provide the expected back up time but yes you can use the system like that.

I am not aware of any repair services in your area. If you like you can contact local support to see if they are aware of service in your area.

Local support contact information will be found at this link http://www.apc.com/ve/es/support/contact-us/

i mean with someone that knows about eletronics and that kind of stuff, using it like this will at least give a battery life time of 3 years as it says in the software?
