Hi folks:
I have a SmartUps C 1500. It powers two servers, and a switch.
I have installed the PowerChute software, and set it up to power down the servers immediately on entering battery mode, so that the batter can keep the switch alive as long as possible. I don't care about auto-restarting the servers on restoration of power, the techs have to come in anyway to manually restart various processes. But I need that switch alive.
In the test I just ran, the main server (the one with the agent) properly shut down, but the other server (which was supposed to get a command from the main server's PowerChute agent to also shut down) did not, and then the entire UPS shut off, which killed power to my switch.
I was looking through the software options, and I'm not finding anything to tell the UPS to keep the outlets alive after shutting down the servers. I want the servers down immediately, and the switch running on battery for as long as possible. Is that possible, or do I need to purchase separate UPSs?

New Question: Does APC still sell SmartUPS with a USB port? Looks like the new versions only come with an Ethernet port. What if I don't want my UPS on my network, and just want to connect it USB-ish-ly?

Original question:
What version of PowerChute are you running?
What is the operating systems/systems?
What outlet group are the servers plugged into? A SMT1500C has two outlet groups. A main and a switched. The main will cut output to all outlets. The switched will only cut output to the member outlets.
Second posted question:
A SMT1500C ships with a USB A to USB A cable. In the image below you will see the USB port next to the serial port (RJ50). Top left starts with the SmartConnect port, then serial port, and finally USB port.
You will also see the switched outlet group signified Green.

Both servers are running Windows Server 2019.
PCBE is at version 9.1.1 (build 604) (is there a downloadable upgrade to that? Admins get no internet access, non-admins can't log into the servers interactively!)
This is an SMC1500 (about five years old), and there is only one outlet group.
Management has decided to get a separate Back-UPS unit for the switch, so that the server UPS will be irrelevant to that.... So at this point I'm just curious as to why there's no /option/ to have the UPS tell the servers to shut down, and then keep supplying power to any other devices for as long as the battery will last. I understand that exhausting the battery would make an in-person/onsite visit necessary for all shutdown events, but that should still be an /option/, in my view.

For what you are looking for, you will need an SMT1500C, not an SMC1500C. The SMT1500C has two outlet groups. You would connect the server to the switched outlet group and the network gear attached to the unswitched one—that way, the switched outlet group will power off, and the unswitched will remain on.
As for PowerChute Business Edition, the latest version is 10.5. That has been replaced for Windows OS with PowerChute Serial Shutdown. Here is a link.
NOTE: You can only have one server connected to the UPS via USB or Serial at a time unless you purchase a Serial expander card. SKU AP9624 https://www.se.com/ww/en/product/AP9624/ups-interface-expander-2/
The other option is to have one server run PowerChute and write a command file that will run to power off the second server. See Schneider Electric FAQ159586 for the command file syntax and instructions.
