¿"Non user-replaceable batteries"?

I have been using APC sai's since long time ago. All of them have had user-replaceable batteries and I can't imagine a model without this feature.

In APC FAQ you can read "All APC UPS models manufactured since 1995 contain "User Replaceable" batteries that you can easily and safely swap out without having to send in the unit for servicing".

Now, I have bought 2 Back Ups (bx1400U-GR and bx950U-GR). I was shocked when I read in installation guide that "Your UPS does not have user-replaceable batteries"...

?¿?¿?¿?¿?¿? WTF ¿?¿?¿?¿?¿?

In APC web page replacement batteries are sold. Are you really saying that I can't replace the battery? Do I have to pay for this service? And disconnect my SAI and use my devices without protection while they change the battery? Really? Why?

Or can I open the SAI (I have knowledgement for doing this) and do the replacement? I have not tested if this is possible because I don't want to break any warranty-seal.

Please, tell me if I will be able to replace  the battery by myself in the future. I would never have bought a SAI with no-replaceable battery and you don't warn about this in your web shop or sai specs.

Majority of APC UPSs have user replacable batteries unless otherwise specified (and after 1995 as you mentioned). Factors that influence non user replacable batteries would be the price point, the country/region and any codes or laws that apply to offering this capability, and the particular model and features it is designed to provide based on that aforementioned price point. Ones that don't have user replacable batteries may be entry level models where the cost of the battery may be more than a new UPS unit.

In many instances, you can likely still replace the battery at your own risk, especially if the warranty period is over and you're comfortable doing so.

But it is not a problem of battery price. APC website sell the battery (APCRBC113) and it is very cheap (and you can buy cheaper in other stores). It is not legal problem, because the majority of APC UPS are sold with any problem in my country (Spain), including ALL APC UPS I have bought in the last 15 years.

This is the first entry-level UPS I buy from APC (the others were Back-ups pro, rs, cs, etc.), but I can't find a reason for design such a UPS with no-replaceable battery. Any other than try to make money forcing the user to send the unit for APC to replace the battery or buy a new UPS (new UPS after 2 years???).

Anyway, if I can open the unit and replace the battery, this will not be a problem for me. But I hope there will not be any obstacle in doing it (special screw, need of code something, etc.).

And I consider this is important enough for have at least a mention in specifications. I'm sure that a lot of people would not acquire these units if they know this.
