What is the function of the power button on the Back-UPS NS1250LCD?
One section of the APC manual describes it as being used to "turn input power on and off." Another section of the same manual relating to the LCD screen states "Ensure the unit is connected to utility input power, and the power on/of switch is turned off (no power is supplied to the output connectors)." Those descriptions are contradictory.
Does the power button control the input power or the output power?
Thanks!
BK

The power button turns the unit on/off. This cuts output power and powers down everything but the surge outlets (which are always on, fed direct from input), and the unit's ability to charge the battery. The power on/off button does not function as an input circuit breaker.

Bob,
In addition to what Erasmus had said, the power button of that UPS is also used to perform a manual self-test on the UPS.

Thanks, guys. Quick question...does power-off require dedicated press of say 1sec, or is it an instant thing like the display button? I could test it, but I already have my server and equipment hooked up. Sometimes my kids get curious and poke things, which would not be good here, so if it's instant-off with one click I will consider relocation of the unit to avoid that possibility.
Thanks!

Bob,
Once you've press the power button it would instantly turn the UPS off and cut power from the outlets. I suggest you keep the UPS away from any objects or from your kids.
