Hi, I tried everything posted here, like removing the battery and waiting 5 minutes, then recharging, but the Back-Ups beeps every 3 seconds and the battery continues to flash, and there is zero charge on the battery. I assume the battery is bad. This is a new unit bought from Amazon.I removed the battery and looked inside the Back-Ups. There are 2 'prongs' inside there that the battery connects to. I noticed that the two prongs did not look identical. In one, the metal filaments are at the top of the prong. In the other, the metal filaments are at the bottom. Is this by design or is the unit's connectors to the battery that are defective, and not the battery?

It was left plugged in at least 20 hours, without any load, and there was no charge at all on the battery, it was still at 0%

So aparently Im not as smart as I think I am..
Before I left for work on a whim I left it plugged in but turned off. When I returned to it 9 hours later it powered up just fine and its working as it should now.. I went through the box and all the documentation again and I could find nothing saying I needed to do this?
But its working now and Im happy..

I just rought the same unit home yesterday and its exhibiting the same behavior as a5s7p2 mentioned..
Unit has been pluged in for about 18 hours now.. Battery indicator flashes, chirps every 2 seconds. The software tells me the battery is disconnected. However if I pull the plug from the wall it does run on battery power though i havent pluged anything more important to me than a small desklamp into ie yet it does seem to atleast function..
Any ideas on how this can be resolved?
Thanks.

I returned mine and got a replacement. The replacement worked fine.

this is normal. the connectors don't necessarily look the same.
how long have you let this charge and observed the flashing battery icon? you should give it at least 24 hours to charge before we start to assume there is a problem. once it charges for at least 24 hours without touching it, i'd see if you do a "pull plug test" with something non-critical, like a lamp, to see if it turns off or not.

alrighty. i'd try that pull plug test then? does the UPS turn off with the lamp, does the lamp stay on, etc?
