feedback on forums

Not sure where to post this. But this is my feedback:

The sign up wouldn't tell me what usernames were used. Each time I tried one, I had to retype the captcha. This is annoying enough as is, but I had to retype captchas 3 or 4 times before they would work -- even though they were simple! I think you're showing O's and 0's and I's and 1's (i.e. letters and numbers), which is plain silly and annoying. Also, not all of the checkboxes are remembered when the form rejects my (legit) application, which is a further pain.

The forums do not have watching of threads you start & reply to turned on by default. I've never understood this. It means people aren't notified when they come here to ask a question.

Also it'd be great if there was a signature option, like other forums.

I think the "message edited by xxx" at the bottom of edits just adds more complexity to the page while adding nothing useful. Why not just gray it out and make it smaller, and not look as though I typed it myself? I know I'm being picky.

hi jason,

i agree with all of your points and i struggle with some of it as well, even being one of the moderators. i will pass this along to the appropriate folks here at APC to see if we can pursue some changes at any point.
