i bought some used apc back-ups cs 500 (model bk500ei). three of these have the following issue.
when connected to the power mains, the yellow "on battery" led turns on, either rapidly blinking or almost steady. the unit also emits a constant low buzz. pressing the power button has no effect. connecting or disconnecting a battery has no effect. connecting or disconnecting loads from the ups has no effect. the unit does not power on if not connected to a power main. brain-deading the unit has no effect.
where is the problem? is there a way to fix this, or to trace the fault to one component so that i can eventually replace it, e.g. making one or two functioning ups out of three non-functioning ones?
thanks for the attention, i'll provide additional info as requested.

solved by changing the battery.
for whoever cares: note that different units have different behaviors. of 5 units in my possession, when deprived of the battery, 3 behaved as described above, while 2 turned on normally and started crying for a new battery (red "replace battery" light flashing).
