I purchased a used XS1000 (BX1000g) that when you first plug it in gives a F02 error. Turned it off via the power button and then back on. Battery indicator just flashes and no power through any of the outlets. Didn't test this with a lamp but did test with cell phone and power adaptor. Is this a battery issue or a defective unit?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
F2 error equals On-battery output short. The errors are listed in the User's Guide on page 5. The solution listed is
Turn the Back-UPS off. Disconnect non-essential equipment from the Battery Backup outlets and the turn Back-UPS on. If that does not resolve the issue try a reset.
1: Disconnect any attached load.
2: Unplug the UPS from the wall socket.
3: Disconnect the UPS' internal battery.
4: Push and hold the "On" button on the UPS for 5 seconds
5: Reconnect internal battery.
6: Plug UPS in to known good power source.
7: Turn UPS on.

Have you contacted APC about this?
I have a feeling they might want to see that one. I'm fairly sure they'd cover the costs in this case.
I've never heard of one literally burning.
