Update: I am able to reproduce the problem on another workstation, also running Windows 7 64 bit Enterprise.
I am unable to install PCPE_2.2_en-US in Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit using an SU1000XL. It is a standalone workstation joined to a domain.
In Device Manager I have HID device "American Power Conversion USB UPS" and under batteries I have "HID UPS battery" and "Microsoft Composite Battery".
The message is:
"The installer is unable to locate an APC battery backup connected to your computer. In order to disable native power management an APC battery backup needs to be attached.
If native power management is not disabled you may receive messages from Windows® relating to a 'battery'."
Then after cancelling, "Please check the USB connectivity between your PC and UPS before you proceed. Rolling back the installation..."

Hector,
As long as you have a supported UPS, Operating System and the required APC communication cable the PCBE Agent should be able to run on a workstation type of computer. I've listed some references below which I hope could help you.

Can the business edition run standalone on the PC? I don't need a server solution.
All I need is for the box to SMTP a message to me when there is an outage.
