I need some help in looking into getting my UTS6 Repaired. It has been in use for several months with no issues, UPS and Generator feeds worked great. UPS is a APC 1500 smartups, Generator is a 4 kw Onan via the hardwire kit. Both have been tested with load with no issue.
I ran my monthly test by killing the main breaker to the house then walking outside and starting the generator. This time I walked back into the garage to find the UTS off, double checked the generator 20 amp breakers on both 120v phases all were Ok. I disconnected the generator from the UTS via the outside breakers, Tried turning off and turning on the APC UPS but the UTS would not power up. I turned back on the commercial power breakers and the unit started but did not see the UPS ( I tested the UPS and it works fine with other devices). So I then disconnected the commercial power breaker, generator breaker, and unplugged the UPS. I could smell something like the magic smoke was let out of the UTS so I pulled the front cover and the LCD display board to find whats included in the pictures. I verified the generator output with a different load as 243V 60Hz
My Question, What happened ??, should I just walk the UTS out and dump it in the garbage or can it be repaired ?

hello - how long have you had this unit? i am curious to know since these have a two year warranty. we don't offer repairs under warranty, just a straight up replacement.
if it is under warranty, we can cover a replacement unit. if you can give me the first 4 characters of the serial number on the unit, i can check for you and give you further instructions.
thanks

alrighty, so it was made in the 45th week of 2007 so generally the warranty would start 3-6 months after that to allow for distribution, purchase, etc. did you actually buy it then and install it? if you had proof that the purchase and/or install was within the 2 year mark, we can honor that too.

The unit was actually purchased new in the box 6 months ago, I also purchased the hardwired kit new at this time. If we can take this offline i can provide proof to this. Any help you can provide would be great I LOVED this switch for the short time it worked, but I doubt that we would purchase another one due to the short time it was able to function in service.
Thank You for your help!
