UPS shutting everything down!

Hi all,

I have a UPS-ES 350 -- and in the last week or so the UPS sounds a short alarm and then immediately everything is shut off. This does not seem to be related to a surge protect or back-up battery situation.

I don't understand what is going on. Minutes ago I was working away and then POOF! all of a sudden a short alarm (different from when it goes into battery backup mode) and then everything cuts out.

Any ideas????

Hello,

Are you running any PowerChute Software on one of the machines? There may not be any noticeable power interruptions, however, you must take into account that Harmonic Distortion on the line is not something that other devices will pick up and power off. The UPS is a lot more sensitive to these types of power problems and could essentially be transferring to battery in response to an otherwise unnoticed input power problem.

Hi,

Can you provide a list of things plugged into the UPS. Is your computer and monitor connected to the battery back-up outlets? Are you using any surge strips with the unit?

We are experiencing the same issue, a short alarm then complete reboot of all equipment attached. One computer and one CRT and occasionally 2 computers attached.

Hello,

The ES 350 is only capable of powering 265W at the max. Therefore, that is just full capacity with a CRT and one PC. Your runtime will be minimal. If you are looking at powering more than that, you may want to upgrade to a larger UPS in the 500-750VA range.

My mistake this is the ES 500 and we are not experiencing any power interruptions. The UPS just sends audible and then resets the equipment as if it was a self test. Equipment is plugged in to the battery backup outlets. These units are less than a year old and there is no indication that the battery is in a failed state.
