Hi Cheryl,

This is the part that throws me off...this UPS makes 4 separate beeps, stops for 30 seconds, and then does 4 more every 30 seconds when there is no electricity to it. So, the sound you are hearing is either some kind of fault, or an overload. Have you tried using the UPS with a smaller load, possibly with just a lamp for awhile, to see if the issue continues?

Also, have you checked to verify that the UPS' internal battery is fully connected? You will need to slide off the bottom cover to check that both wires are fully seated.

1) UPS overload.
2) Graceful shutdown caused by a software setting.
3) Dead battery.
4) UPS sacrificed itself to protect against a surge.
5) Software improperly installed.
6) Improper cable used with the UPS, or a dangling cable left connected to UPS with nothing connected to other end.

7) The power is cutting out and you just don't know it, and it's a short blip that causes an almost dead battery to die.

Do you have any other specifics on your issue to provide?

It is brand new and I didn't get any software in the bag.
I have pc, monitor and dsl modem hooked to the battery back up section
I mean if it is connected to electricity, why would it lose power. I gave me a long beep sound when it happened so I had to turn off the power to stop the beeping, just as if I didn't have electricity, which I did.

What is the model # on your UPS?

So this sound you heard, was a single long beep tone? Or, was it a set of beeps/beeping? What LEDs were on the UPS unit when you experienced this issue? I assume the attached computer and other load got turned off?

The UPS "losing power" may not be the most accurate way to describe the problem. If the UPS simply "lost power" you would have gotten 4 beeps/30 seconds with an "On battery" indication. Or if it simply turned off entirely, you wouldn't have gotten any beeping at all.
