1. I put in a new APC battery in June 2008. At first it was fine. Estimated run time was up there just like you would expect. But as the months have gone by it dwindled to an Estimated Run Time of 4 minutes. Now it says the Estimated Run Time is only 2 minutes. The only thing I can possibly conclude is I simply got a bad, defective battery that is not hanging on to a charge. Sound sensible?
2. I recently rebuilt my computer, and I put in 3 GB of RAM. But when I go into PowerChute and look under Technical Data, it only reports that I have 2 GB(2046 MB) of RAM. Is there a reason for this discrepancy? I'm using PowerChute Personal Edition 1.5. I'm using Windows XP Professional.

If you mean unplug everything that is currently plugged into the UPS, and then just let the UPS be for 24 hours, then no I haven't done that.
According to PowerChute it says Battery Capacity is 100% and all the green lights look fine.
I shouldn't have to upgrade to PowerChute 2.0 unless this particular RAM reporting discrepancy has been fixed. There is no real benefit that I can see otherwise. I have had no problems with version 1.5. When I first got my UPS I had no issues whatsoever. The battery lasted about 3 years before PowerChute notified me that I should consider buying a new one.
The expected lifespan of a battery is about 3 years.
I also sent an email to APC inquiring about this RAM discrepancy. I was just wondering if any of you guys have also noticed this or have a definitive explanation as to why this occurs.

1. Have you disconnected the entire load, allowed the UPS to charge the battery w/ no load attached for 14-16 hours and see what happens?
2. What's holding you back from PCPE 2.0?
