Tried searching for this, but alas, I can't find this easily. I have a new BackUPS connected to my system. (PowerMac running OSX). All appears to be fine, lights, sounds, check. In a test, when I unplug the UPS, the system stays on line. However, as soon as I RESTORE power, the system shuts down. Am I missing something here, or do I possibly have a bad UPS?
Note - Using OS 10.4.10 and the build in energy saver preferences, rather than Powechute.
Thanks in advance.

It is also important to note that the UPS starts its own shutdown timer and signal, and if you unplug a unit from the wall and plug it back in very quickly you could have triggered this shutdown. Causing the unit/system to go down. Either of the explanations are most likely the culprit here 🙂

Hi,
I believe the default energy saver UPS options are in effect as soon as your UPS is detected. Is it possible that you are unplugging the UPS from the wall just long enough to start a graceful shutdown, and the point at which you plugged the UPS back in was coincidentally the same time that the graceful shutdown started?

Thanks for the reply on this, and I believe you are correct. I assumed, probably should never do that, LOL, that leaving the settings at the default, for the beginning at least, would be the best bet. I just changed them over too "shut down computer when UPS power level drops to 25%", and it appears to be working correctly.
Thanks again - I guess I kind of assumed the wrong way!
