I purchased a Smart UPS 2200 (white coloured case) from a local private seller who said it was working but needed new batteries. I have installed 4 new batteries but when I power the unit on, all the lights light up and stay that way. Pressing test and then test again during the long beep puts the unit into battery mode and there is a deep pulsing sound from the transformers that sounds like a water pump.
Tried disconnecting the battery and pressing power off to reset but no joy.
I don't have a load connected at this point as I'm nervous of frying something. Can someone help me troubleshoot what the issue might be? Is the ups dead? Transformer failure? Control board failure?
All help greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike

is it actually supplying power to the outlets during the test stage? (it should be)
the transformer does "burble" quite loudly when running

Thank you for reaching out to the SE Community, my name is Jon and I will assist you with this query. I am sorry to hear about the issue that you're having with the Smart-UPS unit that you've just purchased. You can try to perform the brain-dead and coldstart procedures outlined in the FAQ articles provided below. If this wouldn't clear the fault, UPS is faulty.

Yes it does supply power to the outlets during the test stage. When it's not in test mode, there is no power at the outlets but all leds are lit. Doing the reset doesn't seem to do anything at all. No click. Nothing.
Help! 🙂

If you did the cold start and the UPS didn't turn on at all and had not given any power to the load, chances are the unit is at fault. Can you also share what do you mean when the UPS is in test mode? Is it running on battery?
