Does anyone have any experience with an SMT1500 that seems dead out of the box?
I have plugged in the battery safety plug, plugged it into the wall outlet (fan came on for a few minutes then shut down to a very slow rate).
Plugged a load into the output. Pushed the "ON/OFF" button on the front, and nothing!
If I cycle the circuit breaker in the back, it will click and come back with a quiet sound of a transformer loading.
No lights, no power, nothing.

I got mine up and running. Not sure how comfortable you are pulling the battery out of the unit, but I found the ribbon cable that goes from the front panel was disconnected from the circuit board inside the unit, above where the battery sits. If you pull the front cover off, remove the two screws from the metal plate, let it fall forward, slide the battery out, disconnect the battery cable, then check that ribbon cable. Make sure you pull the plastic tab down in the back of the unit first.
Once I plugged the ribbon cable back in, reconnected the battery and plugged the unit back in, everything came up. We shall see how it goes from here.
Hope that helps.

Hi Chuck,
What Dan4135 has provided is useful, I have also outlined the steps that you can also follow.
# Turn off the unit first and unplug it from the wall and then disconnect the battery by pulling on the connector on the rear panel. You need to remove the front bezel of the unit and remove the battery.
# Make sure or verify that the display/ ribbon cable connector is firmly seated on the PCB inside the UPS. Press the connector carefully. Once you are done, do the same thing with the other end of that cable whicc is connected on the bezel side.
# Reinstall the battery and reconnect the quick battery connector at the back of the UPS.
# Try to turn the UPS back on using the On button.
Let us know how it goes.
