I switched from a BACK-UPS XS1000 to a SMART-UPS 1000. They use different s/w it seems? The XS1000 uses the Personal one, the 1000 uses the Business version. I'm running Vista Home Premium X64 bit version.
When I removed the Personal Edition it seems that no files were removed. I used REVO UN-INSTALLER and this was surprising. When I read the Business Edition data it said on un-install it would remove files, so maybe this is not a problem. Revo didn't find the files either, but they were on my system. I deleted the PE folder and all APC traces before installing the BE. Re-booted and didn't have any problems, so I installed BE. Worked fine. However, when I looked at my SERVICES, MAINSRV.EXE was supposed to run (set to AUTOMATIC). The description for the service, "PowerChute Personal Edition service for managing battery backup power events.". Disabled the service, and it isn't running of course as I deleted the folder.
I can find it in my REGISTRY, but is it SAFE to remove the APC entries there for PowerChute Personal. Certainly don't want to do that if it messes up the Business Edition?
Thanks,
Irv S.
