I have a desktop computer at home that has a APC Back-UPS 550VA UPS Battery Backup & Surge Protector (BE550G) on it. I use this computer quite a bit when I'm traveling through remote desktop access. I have a problem that sometimes when there is a power failure, the computer doesn't recover from the failure automatically and if I'm away from home, I have to ask my neighbor to go over and power it on for me.
I would like to find a more reliable way to have this computer automatically recover from a power failure itself. What is the best way to do that? Is it possible to put the computer in sleep mode when there is a power failure and then have it come out of sleep mode when power is restored?
Thanks for your help...

Thanks, I did not have PowerChute installed...I'll give that a try and see if that makes a difference. I do have the BIOS set to start when power is restored.

Hi,
Are you running PowerChute Personal Edition? If so the software will send a signal to the UPS to power off and when power is restored the UPS will power back up. Once the UPS powers back up depending on the system BIOS the computer should restart. See this post
