I just bought a new PSU and recently researched this issue. Some units have a problem and some do not. From what I have read the Hiper is not compatible. Seasonic units seem to be compatible but there is no official documentation that I have found that states so. According to a moderator on the Corsair forum, corsair units do not have a problem with simulated sine waves.
The FAQ on the Enermax site say do not use an active PFC unit with anything other than a pure sine wave UPS; however, the manual of my new Enermax Modu82+ 425 watt PSU states *"This power supply is compatible with both simulated and pure sime wave UPS."*

You need a UPS that outputs a true sine wave such as a smart ups. Using a regular simulated sine wave ups can kill your PSU.
