Problem with BR1000 switching to battery.

I have a BR1000 that will switch to battery every 5-10 seconds just long enough to beep once then switches back to utility. I've checked the power and it's a constant 122.6v. Even with no load it still switches to battery and the backup protected outlets, in back, drop to 85v before switching back to utility power at 122v. If i just unplug the UPS to force it into battery backup it delivers 115v on the backup outlets.

I don't remember when I purchased the unit but I did replace the battery almost a year and a half ago. I have never changed the sensitivity settings until it starting acting up, changing it to Low stops the switching to battery, but Medium or High both cause problems. The only LED on is the green Online and the orange On Battery when it switches. I tried the reset but still getting the same results.

Hello Michael,

How old is the unit and have you ever replaced the battery?  I do see that this model UPS is discontinued.  Have you altered the sensitivity settings on the unit as this can play a major role in why the UPS switches to battery when there is utility power present?  Are there any LED indicators lit aside from the normal operation green "Online" indicator?  I would recommend resetting the unit with the follow procedure:

1) Turn off the unit

2) Disconnect the equipment plugged into the unit

3) Disconnect the unit from utility power

4) Disconnect the internal battery

5) Hold the off button down for about 30 seconds

6) Reconnect the unit and turn it back on - monitor its activity.

If the issue continues, I would recommend calling into APC for further support.
