Hi, I have a Back-UPS CS 500. During a thunderstorm, I heard a strange noise (as a strong whip, sorry but I can not explain) coming from the UPS. But the moment I did not notice. The UPS was plugged in but turned off, and has been so for about two weeks without ever being turned on and / or disconnected from electricity. One morning he started to emit a fixed and intense noise (constant tone). No lights / LED was on and saw that lasted for many minutes, I first disconnected the power plug but without the noise would stop. The only way to stop him was pull the UPS battery. After a few days I reinserted the battery and I reconnected the power plug but UPS did not give any more signs of life (not turn over and no longer even his classic little noise when it was plugged in but it worked correctly ). What can be?
thanks

Thank you for posting on the APC Forum dilanwhiles.
It is possible that the UPS has taken a "hit/ surge" and sacrificed itself. Was there any equipment attached when this happened? Were they damaged?

The computer that was connected is still working properly (if connected without using the UPS of course ...). What could have broken? Is there a way to do reoperation?

Dilan,
Would you happen to know how old was the UPS? I am not sure if there is any authorized repair center in your region, I suggest that you contact our APC Technical Support in France you can get their number here --> [http://www.apc.com/support/contact/index.cfm] then on the drop-down box choose France or your Country.
There is a possibility that the surge protection modules/ parts were hit. Again it is best that you contact the Support for your Region.
