PowerChute software for Mac OS X?

Hello.

In Windows like 7, PowerChute software is used for APC UPSes for their details, tests, etc. Where can I get it for Mac OS X (v10.5.8/Leopard and v10.8.5/Mountain Lion)? I am unable to find it. 😞

PowerChute Personal Edition for the Macintosh was discontinued quite some time ago. Even if you found a copy, it might not work any longer under newer versions of Mac OS X.

Compared to the PC Edition, PCPE for the Macintosh was very limited. It couldn't do many of the things that the PC/Windows edition could.

Mac OS X contains built in, basic support for an APC UPS and if it's not enough, apcupsd is far more capable.

Thanks. Yeah the one in Mac OS X was limited too. I was looking for more details, features, etc. I guess I will try apcupsd even though it is not user friendly like Windows' GUI PowerChute PE. 😞

If your UPS has a network card then you can use PowerChute Network Shutdown which actually works pretty well on Mac:

No, they don't since I use home consumer APC UPSes like Back-UPS ES-750 (BE750G) unless I miss something.

Powerchute Network shutdown ceased to support MacOS 12-May-2023, around 45 days after the preceding reply was last edited. Appupsd the public domain driver ceased to be maintained in 2017 and MacOS warns that it will require an update to be compatible with a future version of MacOS; I.e. it’s approaching an end-of-life impasse. Apple does not publish a compatibility list for the UPS feature. It might be simpler for APC/Schneider to simply state that the company does not support communication between its UPS products and Apple computers. Apple has provided limited support for APC UPS products via USB in recent versions of MacOS but APC can’t guarantee that this will continue in the future.
