PowerChute Personal Edition doesn't detect UPS BX700UI

Environment : PC HP400g2 i5/4g/500gb win8x64 embedded, PowerChute Personal Edition v3.0.2

At first connecting of UPS to PC with usb it was detected by PowerChute Personal Edition and i was able to schedule stopping PC after 1min without power source. Then i disconnected ups from power supply and PC was turned off by PowerChute after 1min according to the settings. After that i started pc again but PowerChute hasn't detected ups and it's not presented in the device manager. All menus are disabled and there is text at the right-low corner "Unknown Power source" see screen http://puu.sh/mcwXo/713992bb1d.png.

What i've tried to solve problem:

-restarting PC and UPS

-another usb cable

-connecting to another PC

-updating PowerChute from one's menu - nothing found because it's the last version

I don't know what the problem - it seems to be defective UPS.

Hi Mark,

Which driver is loaded when you attach the Smart-UPS? HID UPS or APC UPS Battery? If the HID UPS driver is loading follow the instruction in Kbase FA164514 to load the APC UPS driver and then start PowerChute Business Edition. You can also test the connection using USBView as listed the the post to Alex.

I'm having the same issue with the Smart-UPS 750.  I don't think it's the UPS.  I think it's Windows.

The reason is if you have a webcam with a microphone and use Cortana, you can't use the microphone on the webcam to chat.  I used to have another APC UPS on my computer running Windows 10, but it was connected by the serial cable.  The one I just got, I am trying to use  the USB cable, and Windows is detecting it fine, but Powerchute can't see it.

I did go into the Windows Services and disable the Power Service, but I'm still having the issue.  i think I'll just order the Serial cable and be done with it.  Of course the serial cable can't be used for the new UPS, because that would be too easy.

Good luck.

Hi Alex,

If 2 PC do not recognize the UPS then it may be a bad USB connection on the UPS side. Reset the UPS

1: Disconnect any attached load.

2: Unplug the UPS from the wall socket.

3: Disconnect the UPS' internal battery.

4: Push and hold the "On" button on the UPS for 5 seconds

5: Reconnect internal battery.

6: Plug UPS in to known good power source.

7: Turn UPS on.

When you connect the UPS to the PC it should load either HID UPS or APC UPS Battery driver in the device manager under batteries and under Human Interface Devices there should be American Power Conversion USB UPS. For PowerChute to work the APC UPS driver needed to be loaded. If none of those exist try running freeware USBView or download the Microsoft version of USBView https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/ff560019%28v=vs.85%29.aspx USBView should show you if the UPS is being recognized by the PC.
