Hi,
PowerChute Personal 3.0.1 install fails on Windows 7 64bit Finnish (with English language pack installed). Previous versions including v 3.0.0 have installed without any problem.
Errors from errorlog:
Product: PowerChute Personal Edition 3.0.0.1 -- The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2753. The arguments are: Displayexe, ,
Product: PowerChute Personal Edition 3.0.0.1 -- Installation failed.
Windows Installer installed product. Product name: PowerChute Personal Edition 3.0.0.1. Product version: 3.0.0.1. Product language: 1033. Manufacturer: Schneider Electric. Installation's error code: 1603.
I've tried that vbscript.dll re-registration but it didn't help. Have also tried installing without UAC and with Windows XP compatibility mode.
Could you please help with this problem.

hmm..i found this
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa372835%28v=vs.85%29.aspx
2753 - The File '[2]' is not marked for installation.
from googling, it also seems to be fixed sometimes by uninstalling any previous versions and reinstalling. thus, i'd check the programs and features section and uninstall any previous versions of powerchute. if you did that and still have this issue but did have PCPE installed at some point, perhaps we would need to double check and try the manual uninstall via checking for registry keys, etc

I did an uninstall of the previous version, and then 3.0.1 installed without a problem (mine is English). I have to say generally I'm not impressed with APC software, and I've been using their products for years (IT Pro). But having to wait for prompt at bootup is the worse yet. It should load at startup, without waiting for an OK.

... before I interupted myself with a click on "Post," I wanted to say at least this version finally bypasses the UAC prompt.

Same error message for me on Windows 7 Pro, german, 32 bit.
After the rollback, in addition, the Hibernation mode support stayed disabled, I had to re-enable it with "powercfg /hibernate on" in an Admin console.
