BR1500MS2 APC UPS
When there is a power (surge / drop) - by the electric company (CON ED NYC) : Lights go OFF then quickly come back on in 2 seconds. PC shuts Off / Reboots.
How come the PC shuts off? What is doing this?
BR1500MS2 APC UPS passes Powerchute self test.
Note: If I turn OFF the light switch controlling the wall outlet the APC UPS is plugged into : the UPS switches to Battery Power - PC stays ON!!! PC+ Lights 299 W = 20 MIN = Very good.
Background: Lights and PC are both hooked up to a power surge unit that is plugged into the Battery and Surge port on the BR1500MS2 APC UPS.

I had been running the BR1500MS2 APC UPS since August 29, 2021 with no problems. Last week, I installed the Powerchute software. After several unexplained shutdowns, where the UPS Clicks 2 secs, and the PC restarts, I removed this software from my PC. Doing a registry scan with JV16. Looking forward to PC not shutting down due to UPS Software.
Removing the UPS from the wall - says it has 300 MIN Battery power
Powerchute - Passed the Self Test
Turning off the wall outlet switch: the UPS switches to Battery with PC staying ON!!
Powerchute software causes PC to reboot. Software is now off the PC!!!

LiquidFusion, you are not alone. I have a computer and two monitors connected to the Battery/Surge on a BX1500M UPS. From the start the UPS would hold the monitors, however the computer would reboot if there was an electrical outage/flicker. If I shut the computer down and unplug the UPS from the AC outlet and reboot the computer there is no problem, the computer and monitors run for 35 minutes- its not a loading issue/overload issue.... This UPS cannot sustain a self-test thru the PowerChute software. The computer will shutdown as the test is about halfway proceeded. Its apparent the transfer time is too long for the computer Power Supply to stay powered and the computer reboots. A new UPS is being RMA'd and will be shipped this week. I have looked at my homes AC outlets to ensure there is not current/voltage on ground to neutral (I have read that could cause problems to this problem). The PowerChute software showed the battery backup intervened today, however the computer rebooted at that time. The software does not register the Self-Test I attempted today when the computer rebooted.
I will provide a follow up on this when the new BX1500M UPS arrives and I will try to replicate a power outage and try the PowerChute self-test.
