PC Crashed, now restoring. What's next?

The C: drive on my Windows 10 desktop crashed. It has been replaced and I am now restoring and recovering the file system. This PC was the primary PC for my APC Pro 1000. There were also two Linux desktops depending on it (and they are still both fine). What do I need to do to get this Windows 10 PC up and running with the UPS again? Do I need to load software (e.g., Powerchute) or something? Simply reconnecting it via USB does not seem to work.

TIA, Matt

Hi,

the software options are, 1 configuring native power options in the system control panel. See Schneider Electric FAQ FA159653 for assistance. 2 PowerChute Personal Edition that can be downloaded from this link http://www.apc.com/shop/us/en/categories/power/uninterruptible-power-supply-ups-/ups-management/powe...

For assistance with installing PowerChute Personal Edition see Schneider Electric FAQ FA235777, and the final option 3 is to install ACPUPSD.

Your APC UPS does not require additional software to function. Windows will see it as a generic USB HID battery device, and should present options within the power control panel for "on battery" operation.

If the UPS still doesn't show up anywhere, I'd try a different USB port. Failing that, you might want to clear the unit's memory and forcibly reset it. This can be accomplished by safely powering down the attached load, disconnecting the UPS from the electrical outlet, removing the battery and holding down the power button for a few seconds. Don't be surprised if the UPS reacts momentarily.

Reconnect the battery, plug the UPS back in to the wall outlet and plug the equipment to be protected back in.

If the unit has Ethernet protection capability, make sure the data cable is plugged in to the right port. It's all too easy to plug it in to the wrong port on the back of the unit.
