I installed new batteries in my old Back-Ups XS 1500 unit after 7 years. Downloaded new PowerChute software Ver 3.0.2. When I plug UPS in wall outlet, Green Online light comes on, after a few seconds, Amber On-Battery light, lights up and Green light shuts off. After that about every 30 seconds, I get 3 repetitive beeps. On the computer, (plugged into another UPS), a "Ballon" pops up announcing that the XS 1500 isn't receiving Utility power, this alternates with another ballon saying that I'm on "Battery power". Software window shows that I'm on Battery power but that unit is working normally. Anyone have any ideas about what's going on? Please?

No problem! There might be something on the utility power line that is not obvious but I would think the last transfer reason should update with that...
Let me know if you have any further questions.

Hmm, it sounds like the UPS is alternating between battery/utility power. This only started after replacing the battery? Within the PowerChute software (status screen I think?) can you see what you can find for "last transfer reason" to see if it reports a reason why it is going to battery? I would also see if you can find the sensitivity option on the left hand side menus and see what it is set to. Assuming its at the default of high, you could try lowering it to medium, applying the setting, observing behavior and then if no change, try the same with low. This will lower the UPS's sensitivity to power issues that may not be obvious to the naked eye, such as electrical noise, that could be causing the unit to operate on battery power.

Thanks for your answer Angela. The "Last transfer reason" was "Blackout on 1/7/2015", same day I changed batteries and date. Your second suggestion about lowering the "sensitivity" was the winner in this instance. Lowering it to medium, caused the UPS to cycle fairly quickly between "battery" and "Utility power", according to the lights and "clicks" within the unit. Going to "Low" sensitivity kept the Unit on "Green" (Utility power), after awhile I switched the unit back to medium and this time it stayed on "Green". Tried to go to high sensitivity after a few minutes, but as soon as I clicked apply, the UPS goes on battery power. Voltage readings on sensitivity setting all read High of 138 Volts and Low of 97 Volts, is this right ? Utility Power voltage seems to vary between 119 and 123 Volts, according to powerchute software. Again, Thanks for your help, and I'll limp along on Medium setting until I hear otherwise.
