Need help with APC Back-UPS 600 (Model: BX600CI-IN)

I purchased a brand new APC UPS. The Model is BX600CI-IN. I think I installed it correctly (I plugged my PC socket to the UPS and UPS socket to a plug/power socket/point). I should also mention that I also have an power inverter installed in my house and the inverter supports the socket/point that the UPS is connected to.

I was using the PC in the evening (and the UPS was NOT Charging) and there was a power outage but instead of supporting the PC till I shut it down, the UPS turned off, turning off the PC along with it and started beeping and a red indicator started showing with a beeping sound. I turned off the UPS and disconnected it from the power point. 

I had a power outage today in the afternoon as well but the UPS was able to handle it that time and it didn't turn off the PC and gave me sufficient time to shut it down. I don't know why it couldn't do so in the evening (especially since both times I was the same computer game and not doing anything else)
