I've got an APC Back-UPS Pro 1500 on a Windows 7 64-bit pc. We have a scheduled power outtage coming up and we need to shut down the computer before leaving the building Friday. The power will go out for 8 hours or so before coming back on Sunday. We are looking for a way to get the computer to automatically boot up once power is restored.
I did not see any option for this in PowerChute Personal. I couldn't configure PowerChute Business because the computer is not networked and cannot be networked.
I tried using APCUPSD open source software but I cannot get the software to recognize my UPS (COMMLOST).
Any other ideas?

Hi,
Neither PowerChute or APCUPSD can turn a computer on once it is off. To setting to configure the computer to power back up when AC is restored are in the systems BIOS. You should set the system settings to Always On.
You should configure PowerChute to shut the OS down after being on battery for 2 minutes. When PowerChute starts the OS shut down PowerChute will sends a signal to the UPS to power down to save the battery. When AC is restored the UPS will power back up and if the BIOS has been configurd properly the system will start.

Thank you, this worked as long as I kept the computer running. If I shut the computer down manually before the power-loss, it did not turn back on when the power resumed. That's ok, we will just keep the computer running.
Thanks again!
