I don't know if this is normal or not? I just bought it (2 months ago). When its not on battery but "on" it doesn't make any sound, however when it eats from battery it makes a disturbing sound. I don't know if this sound is normal, as i didn't see any ups before. I searched for it but couldn't find a similar thing on youtube.
My ups is BX1400U-GR 1400VA Line Interactive UPS.
Other then this when i ordered it the box wasn't in the best shape, had some cuts and tears. But Ups had a "test paper" on it so it must be new. And i pulled a safe triger.
Oh and today my battery was on %75(after blackout). And when electricty was back it only recharged by %5 in 30 minutes. I don't know if this is also normal or not.

It sounds pretty normal to me. You will hear some noise when the inverter runs: any of a soft buzzing, hissing or similar noise that may vary slightly in pitch and volume. Connected equipment may also make noise as the inverter's output waveform is of a different type than what your electrical utility supplies when the power is on and working normally.
A fully discharged battery can take at least eight hours to charge. The charging circuit works slowly to maintain a long battery life.
It is not unusual for the boxes to have some handling damage. They've had a long trip to reach you.
