Yes, I also have a Back-UPS Pro 1500 on the same circuit, but without these effects.

First thing I thought when I read this was a faulty or incorrect USB communication cable is attached to the UPS's "Data Port"..

Bill,
The model is BR1000G, and the serial number is 3B1121X30075, and the unit is strictly stand-alone, not running PowerChutePersonal Edition or APCUPSD.

Wayne,
You can try to reset the UPS.
1: Disconnect any attached load.
2: Unplug the UPS from the wall socket.
3: Disconnect the UPS' internal battery.
4: Push and hold the "On" button on the UPS for 5 seconds
5: Reconnect internal battery.
6: Plug UPS in to known good power source.
7: Turn UPS on.
If that does not clear it. Check the on / off switch. Some times they get pushed in and stick. Holding the on / off switch in will cause the UPS to run a self-test so if the button is stuck it may cause the issue.

Are you sure these are self tests, and not the unit providing protection against what it sees as power disruptions lasting only a short time?
