MGE Galaxy 5000 - XMB07 control connection for external battery cabinet

Hi,

I have a problem with an MGE Galaxy 5000 - 80kVA UPS with external battery cabinet and an external battery breaker cabinet, I have installed and operated the UPS and all is fine except one problem, the battery breaker is always tripped!

According to the attached file and my case of 1 battery cabinet, on the XMB07 the coil of the circuit breaker (terminals 1 and 2 of the Battery breaker cabinet/battery disconnect) should be connected to terminals 1 and 3 of the XMB07, the breaker is tripped when no voltage is present on the coil terminals, so in normal operation it should be always energized, but there is no voltage on the XMB07 terminals 1 and 3 so the breaker is always tripped.

There is no alarm whatsoever on the UPS, and the menus showing the battery status and/or test commands are not there! Is this normal? Do I have a faulty UPS or did I do something wrong?

If you are looking at XMB007 plugged into the UPS are your wires landed in the top of the terminal in order 1, 2, 3? If you pull the XMB007 connector out you will see a small arrow on the UPS where the connector plugs in, that arrow points to pin 1. So looking at the connector plugged in, the Bottom pin is 1 and you land 2 above that and 3 above that with pin 4 at the top of the connector, nothing plugged in.

So imagine this is the connector
XMB008 Connector

3- Open
2- Open
1- Open

4- open
3- Orange wire
2- Red Wire
1 -Brown wire

2-Jumper Or External connection to EPO
1-Jumper Or external connection to EPO

The numbering plan is correct and so is our connection, but the issue is that the 1 and 3 should be the coil command output (24V), meaning the trip coil of the battery breaker ( I have an external battery cabinet) should be high (24V) and if there is a trouble it should be 0V, but the situation is that the output on 1 and 3 is always 0V which makes the breaker always tripped!!

In addition, all the menus related to the battery measurements or status do not exist on the lcd console!

Do you have any suggestions?

I would call your local APC office for further assistance.

The MGE Galaxy should always only be started up by Trained and Authorized personnel with the proper software to program the UPS.

Have you tried shutting down the UPS and with no wires connected to XMB007 or XMB008 seeing what the voltage is on pin 1/3 on XMB007 and XMB008? Do you have the jumper installed in XMB006?
