Hi, I've just bought a Back-UPS Pro 900 and am wondering what happens when, on a power restore, if power is lost again soon after that, what the behaviour is. Sometimes when power is restored it is lost again soon (e.g. if I have a misbehaving device in the house tripping the RCD or an electrician is doing some work and cuts the power a few times.) I guess what I would ideally like is for the UPS to only restore power to the outlet once power has been back on for X minutes (indicating it's probably stable again), or at least long enough for batteries to recharge beyond the point that it starts shutting down. If the batteries are not yet charged then power is cut again while my PC is booting I imagine it just loses power? In linux apcupsd may not have started yet so I don't think it will be able to do a graceful shutdown.

Thanks. I actually found my bios has a setting to power back on X seconds after power is restored. I hadn't seen that in a bios before. I've set this to a couple of minutes so that if the battery is already drained, power is more likely to be stable once powering up if it's already been back for 2 minutes.

Hi,
With a Back-UPS 900 when power is restored the UPS if off should power back up and if you configured the BIOS of the computer to start when AC returns then it will start up. You can configure APCUPSD to shut the system down prior to the battery being drained therefore if it is powering up and AC is lost again the UPS should have enough runtime to start and then power back down again.
