I want to protect a Mitsubishi WS-65869 widescreen RPTV, SA8300HD Cable Box/DVR, Panasonic RP-91 DVD Player, Mitsuibish VCR, a Wii console, and Onkoy TX-SR600 AudioVideo receiver. I am considering 2 APC products in this regard.
The Line-R 1200VA offers Automatic Voltage Regulation for line-conditioning, which I want, but only 680 joules in terms of surge protection, which some feel is not adequate.
The APNP11VNT3 provides 2030 joules of surge protection, but as far as I can tell, does not provide any line-conditioning.
First question - is this information correct? So if I want both surge protection > 1000 joules, along with AVR, then neither of these would be good choices?
Second question - assuming that my components are less than 1200 Watts, could I plug them all into the APNP11VNT3 to gain the surge protection, and then plug the APNP11VNT3 into the Line-R 1200VA to get the AVR? I saw an APC article advising against "piggybacking" devices, but this specifically referred to UPS devices, which neither of these are.
Third question - what other cost-effective choices does APC provide to gain both adequate surge protection, along with AVR?
Thank you for any information and advice you can offer.

The PF11VNT3 can be used to protect your equipment from harmful surges that come from power lines and data lines. It does not have an Automatic Voltage Regulator feature. The price difference is nothing to do with the Surge protections capability as it is decided by the product management for various reasons.
If you need only surge protection, then you can use the PF11VNT3 surge protector. If you have Audio-Video equipment, then you can also browse the APC AV products for your protection need. You may call in the phone number which is mentioned in Contact for choosing a right APC A-V product for your need.

Don,
APC believes that let-through voltage is a better indicator of performance than joules.A surge protection device with a higher joule rating does not necessarily mean that the let-through voltage is better. In other words, the amount of energy that the surge protection device can absorb (i.e. joules) does not mean that it is providing the "best" protection for your equipment. A joule rating is indicative of the MOV rating only. It does not take into account the other parts of the surge protection device which may be effected by a surge (i.e. fuses, printed circuit board traces, wiring, etc.). Let-through voltage takes this into account since it represents the suppressed surge voltage at the output of the device. APC Line-R product comply with UL1449 standards. It has cUL Listed,FCC Part 15 Class B,NOM,UL 1012 Regulatory Approvals. Click here to know more about Let though voltage. Secondly, the LE1200 comes with Lifetime : $25000 Equipment Protection Policy. You can file an EPP claim with APC in case if the connected damages due to harmful surges. Click here to know about EPP in detail.
Therefore, you do not need to worry about the Line-R surge protection capability. Based on my experience in APC, the LE1200 does provide better protection to the connected equipment against any harmful surges. There is no need to plug the equipment through another surge protector product into the Line-R outlet. Secondly, APC does not recommend this type of configuration.
I hope that this information is useful.
Have a nice evening!

Thank you very much for the reply, Techie.
In practical terms, because of the number of devices I have to connect, the Line-R 1500VA doesn't quite have enough physical connections, while the P11VNT3 does.
How do these compare in terms of the basic purpose of protection, and if the P11VNT3 doesn't have any true "line conditioning" does this make it a lesser product? In terms of cost, it is less than the Line-R, and common sense might imply lesser protection as well, although this is certainly not a universally valid conclusion!
Bottom line, what is the best value in an APC product, in terms of "bang for the buck" to provide reasonable overall protection for my system of devices (6 all together, total power consumption around 900 Watts)??
Competing products I've looked at today include the Panamax M8-HT-Pro and Belkin PF31, which reportedly include "line conditioning" in their specs, and then there's the TrippLite HT810ISOCTR which looks good overall, but doesn't seem to claim AVR capability.
Again, thanks for the reply.
