I just picked up an ES 750. I connected everything to the UPS, connected the battery terminal to the SLA battery, installed the software, turned on my Mac and attempted to test the UPS but something isn't right.
At first I thought that the battery just needed to be charged but according to the status icon and the gauge in the preference panel the battery has 100% charge.
Now, perhaps I'm missing something but if the battery has 100% charge and everything is connected and the UPS is ON with the devices plugged in to it working..... and then I unplug the UPS from the wall, my understanding is that the devices plugged in to the Master outlets will stay powered on, giving me enough time to save and close documents and shut down the computer.
When I do unplug the UPS from the wall it beeps 4 times and then repeats that every 30 seconds as the manual indicates, but the computer shuts off immediately and does not prompt me or stay on to let me shut it down.
Does anyone know what is wrong or why things are not working as they should? Or is there something I'm missing? The battery is charging now, so I suppose that tomorrow things might work but I didn't think that I would get the beeps and power lights if in fact that battery was not charged and I don't understand why the computer is showing 100% for the charge.
Thanks in advance.
Robert

I think I know why it wasn't working and I feel a bit silly.
When you unpack a brand new ES 750 there is a yellow sticker across the 5 outlets providing backup power. Typically, when I buy something, I don't peel off all the labels and stickers until I know the unit works and then I get rid of all those things. So... I was plugging my computer and peripherals into the 5 exposed outlets on the other side of the UPS and I never peeled the yellow sticker off the backup outlets.
I have a funny feeling that everything will work fine if I plugged the gear into the right outlets... lolol

Thanks for the response but unfortunately that's not the answer.
I have an iMac plugged into the Master Controlled outlet, printer in the other outlet, and then a router and cable modem in the surge protected outlets.
Now what?

Are you sure that the iMac is connected to one of the battery backup outlets? Are you saying that the iMac is plugged into one of the "Controlled by Master" outlets? Please note that the Controlled by Master outlets do not provide backup power in the event of power failure.
If possible, could you please double check the connection? Connect the iMac to the Master outlet as shown in the picture above and check if the UPS provides power to it when there is a power failure.

I am glad that you have found the battery backup outlets. I hope that the unit supports the iMac during power failure.
Have a nice day!
