I have a home office in which I'm setting up a new all-in-one computer with Windows 10. I would like to keep my old Vista computer running while I transfer the files that I need. I had plugged the new computer into the Master Outlet of my UPS and the old Vista into the Backup/Surge protected outlet below it and they worked fine. Until the new computer went to sleep and then both shut down. I've tried moving the plugs down and not using the Master Outlet at all because of the control issue, but now the new computer will not even turn on. If the Master outlet is not used, does it disable all of the other outlets it is suppose to control?

I'm glad to hear you've solved the problem. The "surge only" outlets that are not indicated as "controlled by master" should remain powered on at all times.
You can also control the power saving functionality from the front panel of your BR1300G. Turn the unit's status display on (if it isn't already) by pressing the rightmost menu button. If you see a leaf symbol in the display, the power saving/master outlet control function is turned on. You can turn it on or off by holding down both the "mute" (leftmost) and "menu" (rightmost) buttons at the same time.
The unit will produce a beep and immediately afterwards, the leaf symbol will appear or disappear depending upon whether the feature is on or off.

Which UPS model do you have? The master/controlled outlets feature can be turned off, although the procedure varies by model.
If there is nothing plugged into the "master" outlet and the controlled outlet feature is turned on, it certainly could turn off the other outlets. The UPS cannot tell the difference between nothing being plugged into the master outlet and something that's plugged in but turned off.

Bill - Thanks for your response. I have Model Number BR1300G and think I have solved the problem. I have plugged the new one into the master and moved the old to "surge only" and setting both to never shut off until I do so manually. Will work while I plow through transferring everything I need. Thanks again.
