Power company neutral in our underground power line failed and resulted in voltage spike/surge of 240v ac past the meter, a built in surge in the 4 year old power breaker box and into the house wiring. 17 surge protectors died, along with circuit boards in washer, stove, garage door opener, and some assorted motion sensing devices attached to bulbs. I have 6 various APC UPS devices connected to protect servers, PCs, and event the FIOS ONT box. Nothing attached to a UPS was damaged. (ranging from 2 BE550Gs that I've replaced the batteries in, to more modern ones I just can't recall their model numbers)
How do I know or determine that none of these devices were damaged? They all turned back on and seem to be OK, but is there a diagnostic? Or telltale signs? Because the power company is supposed to repair and replace anything damaged and my surge protectors saved them and me a lot of money but I'd like to ensure the UPS's are fully functional as well.

Thank you. Since I wrote this one now shuts itself off within seconds with no load and another powers on but if you plug anything into it, goes from green to red. I've been testing with a working lamp. Thinking these 2 are going to get replaced.
Appreciate the information.

Hi,
Since the units powered on they should be fine. UPS are designed to shunt surges to ground and if needed sacrifice themselves to protect the attached equipment. Since they power up that would indicate the surge was passed to ground without damaging the UPS.
