I have an old SC1500 running a server at my cabin on an island here in Norway, where the power is not all that reliable. I wanted to upgrade the firmware and downloaded the Firmware Upgrade Wizard, version 4.1.1. But it can't find the UPS. I have exited PowerChute Business Edition (which was of course blocking the port), but that didn't help. I have also tried to use a Windows 7 backup OS that I have on another partition on the server, so there has been no PowerChute installed there. That didn't help either. Do I need another version of that program? I do not have the original serial cable, but it is patched to be like it. And I doubt that it is the cable since PowerChute works without a hitch. Can somebody please direct me to a solution?

That explains it, thanks! Rather weird that there is a firmware downloadable from the product page then, isn't it? It's no biggie, I was actually only trying to find firmware where I could set the timeout for the PowerChute connection to more than 10 minutes, it drives me nuts when breaking in new batteries, I want to follow the percentage.

Hi,
That model UPS does not have upgradeable firmware. If you are looking for a Smart-UPS with upgradeable firmware the models are SMT, SMX, SMC, and SRT.
