I have been working a home-built device to control power for my PC accessories (Monitor, speakers, Ext. USB Hub,...) using a relay connected to the 5v power from my PC's internal USB port. While this will work nicely, it occured to me that I already have a power device connected to my PCs USB port: my APC UPS.
My suggestion: Help me reduce parasitic power usage by having my UPS power down all the outlets except the one for my PC when my PC is turned off. Recent reports from utility power audits show that parasitic power currently counts for a majority of power waste. By turning off what I'm not using, I can help the environment (and my electric bill).
Thanks for a great product line, I wouldn't use any other!!

Hi,
Do you mean the master control outlet? If so, yes this is the only model at this time that has that feature.

You overlooked the Master Control outlet on the 750 that the 650 doesn't have, and of course, number of outlets.
But we'll forget about that for now.

Technically speaking, what makes the 650G greener? What kind of components and specs were changed to make it reduce power consumption? Did APC remove the AVR of this model? Since this feature is one of the main things responsible for power waste, and more heat generated inside the unit and also this is a feature not very much necessary, since all SMPS can deal with voltage fluctuation very nicely and PSU with active PFC can deal with voltage fluctuations even more nicely.
Thanks!

Hi Rau,
Here is a link to some specs on the BE750G which is one of our green UPSs. Basically, the new outlet control cuts down on power consumption when not necessary along with a few other tidbits.
[Click here to view the article on the BE750G|http://nam-en.apc.com/cgi-bin/nam_en.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=9223]
Just to note - the BE650G is the same except for the VA/watt rating.

Sorry for the delay, but thanks for the info. Is this the only model with this feature?
